ABOUT

Jakob Söhngen (b. 2001) is a figurative artist whose work is rooted in direct observation. Working almost exclusively from life, he creates expressive portraits and landscapes in a range of traditional media, including charcoal, graphite, and oil.

He studied drawing and painting for three years at the Florence Academy of Art, where he completed an intensive classical education centred on the disciplines of observational drawing and painting.

Art and music have been very present growing up in Sprockhövel in a very artistic family. Alongside his visual practice, he is also a dedicated pianist, focusing on improvisation in different styles such as Jazz or Classical.

Having recently graduated from the Florence Academy of Art, Jakob Söhngen is now developing his independent artistic practice and is available for portrait, landscape, and other commissioned work.
